Today’s post is going to be all about Trollbeads and I’ll be sharing a whole lot of information so you can get to know the brand better. I called this post the dance of the charms because if you haven’t guessed it, it revolves around charm bracelets and this reminded me of femininity and personalisation.
To be honest, I’ve actually never heard of Trollbeads before nor has anyone mentioned to me about the brand. But I recently discovered that they have a few branches around Malaysia and lo and behold, I’ve never been to any of their shops until recently.
Even I, myself, own my own Pandora charm bracelet. To be fair, Pandora is really mainstream so a gem like Trollbeads seemed like a good alternative to standing out from the crowd! Since I was already intrigued, I dug more about the brand.
The History of Trollbeads 📜
Trollbeads is a Danish jewellery company that was established in 1976. The anecdote of the brand began when Soren “Silversmith” Nielsen created the first Trollbead- Faces (picture above). I found this particular charm so intriguing because you could see many facial expressions from different angles, I’ve never seen anything like it!
In addition, the brand is actually the original and the first of the first to produce bracelets with sterling silver charms and beads. During the time of the creation, the trend was to have only one dangling bead on a leather bracelet. Soren gave it a twist by making beads that could be directly pierced by the leather cord.
After that, his sister Lise, the founder of Trollbeads (picture above), suggested using sterling silver instead of leather cords. She went on to opening her own jewellery store and one day, a customer opted to have one more bead on her bracelet. This was how the bead/charm bracelet concept came about. Soon after, brands such as Thomas Sabo and Pandora started making them after it became a trend.
This information shocked me a bit because I’ve always thought Pandora was the trendsetter!
Trollbeads also makes their jewellery from a plethora of different materials from luxurious metals such as 18k gold and sterling silver to rare gems such as diamonds, natural stones and pearls, to even charms made of glass.
Besides charm bracelets, they also sell other jewellery such as necklaces, rings, and earrings.
The coolest of all- they also sell customisable tiaras! How cool is that?
Just like the charm bracelets, you could pick out your own charms, spacers, and beads to create your very own personalised tiara. This by far, I haven’t seen any other brands do before.
Now Trollbeads is available in over 400 cities worldwide and over 100 international jewellery designers. You could head over to their official website, Facebook, and Instagram for more details if you’re interested to look at more of their beautiful jewellery.

The Battle of the Brands 🥊
How does Trollbeads stand out from similar brands like Pandora and Thomas Sabo, you might ask. Well, I’ll show you.
As mentioned before, you can clearly see that Trollbeads is the original brand that started this trend as it was found the earliest, followed by Pandora then Thomas Sabo. There is also a clear difference between the three in since of bracelet styles. But I made this little chart so you could clearly compare the brands from where they are based on and manufactured in.
Fun fact: Pandora actually paid royalty to Trollbeads for making glass beads as it was the original!
I took the time to stop by at the Trollbeads store in Mid Valley and the helpers were so friendly and explained to me more information about the brand that I didn’t even know of!

Copper Jewellery
Trollbeads provides Copper jewellery (unlike Pandora and Thomas Sabo), not only is it more affordable, it is also beneficial for your health!
Copper jewellery actually helps remove toxins from your body. The shop assistant said she has a copper bangle when she first wore it, it turned black after a whole day of wearing it as it helped removed toxins from her body. But fret not, you can get it clean easily by bringing it to the shop or wiping it clean using vinegar at home. After wearing it for a long time she said she only needs to clean it once a week now. She said it even turned green once when she had a fever.
How amazing is that?
2. Hand-made Jewellery
From the video, it gives you a little gist of the craftsmanship behind Trollbeads.
All the Jewellery you see in Trollbeads are all hand-made, I don’t think you could say the same for Pandora and Thomas Sabo. Their beads, charms, and jewellery are all carefully crafted by their jewellery makers. This is so so impressive! I really saw that the beads in the store were in different sizes, you literally get a one of a kind bead!
3. Real Natural Stones with Beneficial Properties
Did you know that all the stones sold in Pandora are man-made? Trollbeads, however, provides you with beads made of real natural stones!
They have a whole list of these stones with different benefits! This is so so interesting. I did mention that I was still a student and she told me that the amethyst stone would be beneficial for me.
4. Amazing quality
The quality of Trollbead’s jewellery is phenomenal! I was told that you could wear their jewellery in the showers and it will not get damaged. You wouldn’t catch me dead with my Pandora bracelet on in the bathroom. It’s honestly crazy! On top of that, they offer a 2-year warranty on their jewellery. I know Pandora only offers one month for their items with glass, etc. and only a year at most for their silver/ gold.
Y’know what they say, if the warranty is long, the product is bound to be of amazing quality because they are so confident that it will not be bad!
Trollbeads Wishlist 🤩
After discovering and knowing the brand more, I obviously really want some of their jewellery for myself.
Isn’t it beautiful? I really love the floral bead. As well as the centrepiece! There were many other ones I would want but for now, I have my eyes on these beauts. I was so spoiled with the choices they offer, so I think I’d probably have to look more into it again haha.
Oh! Also, they currently have quite some offers going on, so quickly pop into a store near you to find out more. There’s a deal going on that if you spend above RM1,000, you will receive a leather bracelet pouch and boy, let me tell you that you can smell the leather and see how good quality it is. It ends in 3 days from now though.
Well, what do you think? Would you love to get some Trollbeads jewellery of your own? Do you already own one? Let me know!
Cheers,
Sylvia
